Our first stop off the Metro was The Spanish Steps, these were sweeping steps that are famous in history for connecting two major areas of the city: The Piazza Di Spagna at the base and The Piazza dei Monti at the top, this top Piazza was dominated by the French in 1723 so the building of these steps represented a union and peace treaty. This staircase (scalinata in Italian) is the longest, widest staircase in all of Europe.
